Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs)

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) assist clergy at services. A LEM may be called upon to help the priest prepare the altar for Eucharist, to read the lessons and prayers, and to administer the chalice at communion. These duties may be performed at the scheduled Sunday services, when extra services are scheduled (as during Holy Week or at Christmas) or at memorials. LEMs are usually scheduled for one Sunday service per month. A one-day training session is required for licensing by the diocese.
