THE VICAR’S VOICE
The ‘Natural Church Development’ process
A couple of months ago I had told you, in the Net, that we were going to be entering a diocesan program called “Natural Church Development.” The time has now come. You are probably wondering what, exactly, is Natural Church Development? What NCD is about is releasing the potential that God has already implanted in our lives—it is about looking at who we are, and what are our strengths and weaknesses.
Getty trip: May 21

The Saint Andrew’s Social Group will be going to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles (http://www.getty.edu) on Saturday, May 21. Admission is free; however, parking for cars is $7 each. There is a restaurant which serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (On Saturdays the museum is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.) We will meet in the morning at the church about 8:45 and leave around 9 o’clock. Everyone is welcome. Call Paula Ford at 949.726.9244, or Donna Catalano (dcatalan@iusd.org), for more information. See you there!
THE PEOPLE’S WARDEN’S POINT
Caution! Construction area ahead
We are excited to announce that Saint Andrew’s Children’s Center will begin work on a much-needed playground renovation and building improvements project. The work will start next week with the removal of worn play equipment, older-style shade structures, old sand and old wood chips around the play structures. After the demolition process, the next phase will be site preparation for the installation of new concrete tike paths for all three play yards, new play structures, new state-of-the-art shade structures, new sand and new engineered wood chips.
REPAIRS & REPARATIONS
15 hands make light work of April 9’s Work Day
April brings great weather to Irvine. It also brought a great work day and about 15 people who brought their tools and talents to help out on April 9. Much was accomplished in the three hours we gathered to work.
The Children’s Center turns 20! Come to the Open House May 21st

The date is set for Saturday, May 21, 2005, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., so mark your calendars to come and join in the celebration. Meet the teachers and the support staff, have brunch with us, and enjoy the entertainment provided by our children!

Youth meet, and donate to CHOC
Saint Andrew’s Youth Group meets weekly after the 10 a.m. service upstairs in the Conference Room. CHOC hospital’s playrooms are in desperate need of new toys. They range anywhere from toddler toys, to drawing utensils, to stuffed animals, to games. The Youth Group thought it would be a great idea to dig deep into our hearts and donate items to the hospital and volunteer to drop them off probably the first Saturday in June. During May, we will collect items (either purchased, or preferably no longer used at home), as well as make cards for the kids.
MAY OUTREACH
Draw, paint, sculpt: Children’s Center still seeks supplies
During the next several months, we will focus on some of the needs of our Children’s Center. One of these needs is the provision of adequate art supplies.
Sunday Forum, at 9 a.m., tackles topics
Did you know that the Canons of the Episcopal Church make it clear that it is the duty of every Christian to make a will, have advanced directives in place, and make provision for the care of those who are dependent on you? Did you know that the Episcopal Church has special prayers for those facing the difficult decisions connected with end-of-life issues or that it is the intention of the church that no one should have to face these decisions or the end of their life alone? Those are just some of the things that were discussed in the Sunday Forum between services.
