The People's Warden's Point | Russ Hedman | Caution! Construction area ahead

We are excited to announce that Saint Andrew’s Children’s Center will begin work on a much-needed playground renovation and building improvements project. The work will start next week with the removal of worn play equipment, older-style shade structures, old sand and old wood chips around the play structures. After the demolition process, the next phase will be site preparation for the installation of new concrete tike paths for all three play yards, new play structures, new state-of-the-art shade structures, new sand and new engineered wood chips.

If that was not enough, there’s more—the kitchen will get a complete facelift in early June, in addition to the exterior painting of the administration building. The work will finish off with the coating and re-striping of the parking lot. All of the work is planned to be completed by the end of June. The vicar, Children’s Center directors, and members of the Children’s Center Board have worked hard to make this plan become a reality.

Along with the construction, there will be some inconveniences. First, the kitchen will not be in service during that phase of the facelift for about a week or so in early June. Second, there will be a temporary fenced playground erected in the center of the parking lot for about five or six weeks. This will mean that the parking spaces in the two rows by the basketball pole will be unusable during that time. If additional parking is needed, businesses on both sides of the church have parking available on Sundays and at other times. Third, the parking lot coating and restriping may close the parking lot on one Sunday in June. Once again, there will be parking in the adjacent lots on both sides of the church. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me. Thanks in advance for your support as we work to improve the Children’s Center.
