THE VICAR’S VOICE

Stepping up to the plate during vacation

In a few weeks I will be going on vacation and I am very excited to tell you that we have some wonderful priests who will serving Saint Andrew’s on the Sundays that I will be gone. Since we are in the midst of the baseball season, let me give you the lineup. Leading off the first Sunday will be the Rev. Reginald Payne-Wiens, an assistant from St. Margaret of Scotland in San Juan Capistrano, followed by the Rev. Keith Yamamoto, who is also an assistant at St. Margaret’s. Then the last two weeks, batting cleanup, will be our own Colin Henderson. The joke among clergy is that whenever you go on vacations, you should always get someone who is—let’s say—less exciting than yourself. (Now I may be getting myself in trouble!) I really enjoy these three people, and I think you will also.

Get out your calendars: Social Group makes plans

The Saint Andrew’s Social Group met on June 25th for a potluck, board-game night, and planning session for the next few months. Many exciting trips were planned, so grab your calendars, mark down these dates, and join your fellow parishioners.

Beach Party 2005

By MELISSA BROWNING

On Sunday, June 12, about fifty Saint Andrew’s parishioners met in Corona del Mar for dinner and a fun afternoon at the beach. Volleyball, soccer, Smash Ball, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, playing in the sand, skimboarding, relaxing in beach chairs and socializing were activities enjoyed by all ages.
