Saint Andrew’s Net | June 2006 | Vol. XXI No. 4 | Page 1
I am excited to tell you about two new people who are working for Saint Andrew’s. Let me begin by welcoming Sue Ko as the new Director of the Children’s Center. Sue is not new to this community. She has spent the last two and a half years as a consultant with us here at Saint Andrew’s. Sue comes to us with a wealth of experience in working with early childhood programs. Her résumé includes working as the Director at Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool and also as an Executive Director involved in the restructure and expansion of a private non-profit agency serving 400 Head Start, state- funded and United Way–funded children. She has also worked as a design consultant to more than 30 early childhood environments that have become national models. I believe Sue is just what we need here Saint Andrew’s, and I feel blessed to have her as our new Children’s Center director.
The second person who has come aboard is Janet Bieler. It took us a while but we now have a replacement for Kent as office manager. Janet started working for us about two weeks ago, and is doing a great job learning the many nuances of working for a church. Janet will be working on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and her hours will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. I know you all join me in welcoming her into our community.
There are three dates that I would like to highlight for you. The first date is June 8, when we will be having a fundraiser at Ruby’s restaurant on Barranca. Please grab a flyer at church and then go to Ruby’s for dinner. A certain percentage of your bill will come to Saint Andrew’s; it’s as easy as that. The funds collected will be placed in our “refurbish the church” account. I hope everyone can come and enjoy a night of no dishes to wash.
[Editor’s note: The event was well-attended, and we’ll have the details on the amount of money raised in July’s issue of Saint Andrew’s Net.]
The second date to mark on your calendar is Sunday, June 18th. This is Appreciation Sunday, which is the time that we set aside to intentionally recognize all of your ministries. Saint Andrew’s would not be what it is without all of you.
Finally, the last date is Sunday, June 25th, and on that day we will be having Mass on the Grass. Hope to see you there, and remember to bring sun screen.
God’s Peace,
Peter
