Minutes of the Bishop’s Committee Meeting: March 18, 2007

OPENING

The meeting began at 12.25 PM.

Minutes

Minutes of the February 27 meeting were accepted.

Prayer was offered by Peter Browning.

FINANCES

Brian Payne introduced financials. He reported that he had sold the stock which had been given as a parishioner’s pledge. There was discussion with Kathy Cartelli about entering certain payments in the correct place in the ledger. 

BISHOP’S WARDEN

Merrilee Gardner reported on research she had done for advertising in the Irvine World News. We are in the L.A. Times.  After discussion it was decided the Merrilee Gardner and Peter Browning should decide how to proceed. Jenny Ladefoged offered to keep an eye on the web page. Kathy Cartelli will look into signage for the church.

OTHER MINISTRIES

Fellowship: There will be a potluck on Palm Sunday, after church and an Easter Egg hunt on Easter.

Children’s Center : Peter Browning reported that the diocese had given consent to the discontinuing of the State Contract. Letters to teachers and parents were sent out on the 16th March. He was returning to the Corporation of the Diocese meeting on the 27th March to talk about finances during the transition. After discussion it was agreed that the Parish should be notified by an article in the Net. 

Design Committee: The Rev. Cindy Voorhees will make a presentation to the Bishop’s Committee and the design committee on June 3rd. There will be a field trip on April 21 to look at St. Paul’s Pomona. An older plan for a ‘hall’ has been re-introduced and was discussed.

OLD BUSINESS

Narthex Odor: David Tingey will call a plumber and he will talk to Russ Hedman about dangerous trees. Grounds: Work day May 5

Vicar’s Report: Peter Browning informed us of a candle holder bequest. David Tingey offered to research value.

Next Meeting: April 15.
