Spring Clergy Conference Set for May 3–5

From The Angelus

t-cap.gif (230 bytes)he 1999 Spring Clergy Conference is planned for Monday–Wednesday, May 3–5, at the West Coast Long Beach Hotel. The conference theme is Poems of Faith—Songs of Inspiration: The Music and Words of Congregational Song.

Please remember that the bishops ask all parochial clergy to attend this conference. It will be led by the Rev. Dr. Brian Wren, noted poet and hymn writer, and will include weaving music and liturgy into Dr. Wren’s presentations as an active and inclusive chance for clergy to worship God together. There will also be workshops highlighting use of music in small congregations, use of music from cultures represented in the diocese, and a session on resources. We are even planning a jam session, so clergy: plan to bring your musical gifts, skills, and instruments.

As always, the conference tries to combine professional development with building up the community of clergy and helping with clergy wellness. In that sense, we will also have time for social gatherings, massage therapy, walks, and rest.
