Summer Christian Education Opportunities Abound

By CANDICE CROCKER, Christian Education Chair

Although you can only come as a participant to Summer Sunday School or Vacation Bible School if you are between the age of kindergarteners and those who’ve finished sixth grade, all others are needed and welcome to help.

Vacation Bible School is now scheduled for the week of July 19. Children can attend for a whole or half day. The program should be lots of fun. The format is learning about Jesus through biblical archaeology. There are lots of hands on activities that should make for permanent positive memories of Jesus and Vacation Bible School. I am sure that there were a couple of skeptics amused at the previous statement; and I would encourage you to come and see by volunteering some time to the VBS. We are in need of approximately six teachers and several teacher’s helpers (both junior and senior high students). The program has a coordinator already and a couple of teachers, but to make this experience happen we really need more hands. If you can lend some time to this enterprise or if you have a child to send to VBS please let one of the clergy, or Candice Crocker know. This activity is not designed just for the children of Saint Andrew’s—all children are welcome. If you have house guests with children at that time, or are providing child care for more than just your children during the week, or if you know of any other children that might enjoy this program please feel free to sign them up.

There is a scaled-down version of Sunday school operating during the summer months that is separate from the week-long VBS. Some of the classes during June, July and August are pooled together to account for smaller numbers during the vacation. This may mean that your child’s class is not meeting in the usual place. If you encounter this problem, Nina Macdonald or Nan Roberts are usually stationed by the main door of the Administration building, and either one can direct you to the location of the class.
