Formation groups are now underway
MEETINGS Once a month, 3 gatherings explore healing, recovery; spiritual development and prayer; and the Bible and theology.

Saint Andrew’s now has three new formation groups, each meeting once a month for prayer, study, and fellowship, as follows: Healing and Recovery meets at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month. Spiritual Development and Prayer meets at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month. Bible and Theology meets at 7 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of every month.

All groups will meet in the chapel. The 7 p.m. chapel service will continue on Wednesdays, but its structure will vary from week to week to reflect the focus of different groups and to provide a prayerful context for study and fellowship afterwards. Just as the chapel service remains open to all, so all of the formation groups are open to anyone who wishes to join, and forms are available in the Narthex for individuals interested in future groups devoted to stewardship, fellowship traditions, or corporate worship.

The Healing and Recovery group will have its first meeting on Wednesday, June 4.

The Spiritual Development and Prayer group will be exploring different traditions of prayer in relation to the individual prayer life. In preparation for the first meeting on Wednesday, June 11, members are asked to reflect on two things: (1) What has your prayer life been like over time? How has it changed with age and/or in response to other changes in your life? (2) What is your prayer life now?

The Bible and Theology group began on May 28 with an overview of the Old and New Testaments, and a survey of useful interpretive tools for a deeper understanding of scripture. In the future, the group will be using as a study guide Bruce Molina’s The New Testament World: Insights from Cultural Anthropology. Their next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 25.
