JulyAugust 2003What would summer be without visitors? Summer usually means a guest or two, and our pulpit at Saint Andrew’s is no exception to the rule. On Sunday, Aug. 3, we’ll welcome home the Rev. Ellen Hill. Once a member of our church (its senior warden, in fact, in 1986), Ellen was sponsored by Saint Andrew’s Irvine when she was ordained in 1988. She arrives here just after her July retirement from her position as rector of St. Michael’s and All Angels, in Studio City. A week later, on Sunday, Aug. 10, the Rev. Lisa Golden will join us. She is the newly appointed chaplain for UC Irvine’s on-campus Episcopal ministry, Canterbury Irvine, and currently assists part-time at St. James’, Newport Beach. Pastor Lisa was also chosen as an alternate delegate for the Los Angeles diocese to this year’s General Convention in Minneapolis. (Ginna, by the way, will be on vacation from July 23 to Aug. 23; the Rev. Colin Henderson will cover for her during that time.) Many vacationers as well as new arrivals to Irvine will ptrobably also be with us this summer. Please give a hearty welcome to all of our visitors. |
