All Saint’s Day – The celebration of all Saints day is Sunday, Nov 6. Please print the names of departed loved-ones in the Book of Remembrance in the Narthex so that we can honor their memories in our prayers that day.
Centering Prayer on Mondays from 5-6pm Centering prayer is a community of people gathered for silent prayer with one intention, to center us in God. In the midst of busy lives and busy minds, we return, return, return to God. Over time Centering Prayer becomes not simply a type of prayer, but a way of life.
We are starting a Centering Prayer group at Saint Andrews on Monday evenings from 5-6pm. We will gather in the sanctuary from 5-5.30pm for Lectio Divina (sacred listening), followed by Centering Prayer from 5.30-6pm. You can join us at 5pm or 5.30pm depending on your schedule. We’d love to have you join us!
Bible Challenge Resumes
After a couple months hiatus the Bible Challenge resumes with study of the Jewish Wisdom Literature. We will begin with the Book of Proverbs. Our first discussion session will be on Wednesday, Nov 2 at 7:30pm at Peets Coffee, Portola Plaza (Portola and Culver).
Outreach - United Thank Offering (UTO) As an outreach project during the months of October and November, we will again be collecting coins in cardboard boxes for the United Thank Offering (UTO). Please pick up a UTO box in the narthex of our church then bring your filled UTO boxes back to church on Sunday, November 19. You can also contribute via check (put “UTO” in the memo line). Through UTO, men, women, and children nurture the habit of giving daily thanks to God in prayer and with a physical gift of coins or bills collected in their UTO boxes. UTO distributes every penny of our donations in the form of competitive grants to dioceses in support of mission and ministry throughout the Episcopal Church and in invited provinces of the Anglican Communion in the developing world.
